The Program
Thanks for diving a little deeper into our website to learn about our program. The MTBTC training program was designed to provide a year round training platform for your time spent off of the bike. In our time as Fitness professionals one thing we’ve found with all types of people and athletes is that GPP (General Physical Preparedness) training, and in turn the capacities gained from it, are beneficial in all sports and all aspects of daily life.
Our goal with the MTBTC was to create a robust training program that focuses a large part of your training on GPP while biasing the work performed towards the mountain bike athlete. What that means is that the MTBTC training program focuses on a broad and well rounded training program with specific emphasis towards aspects important to mountain biking such as shoulder stability and leg power, while also focusing on the positions dominated in mountain biking that cause long term loss of function, i.e. tight hips, internally rotated shoulders, loss of thoracic extension, etc.
Having the opportunity to work with so many athletes and having used so many different training protocols through our time in the Fitness industry, one thing we do know, is that having the ability to perform basic fitness and strength capacities, such as doing a Pull-up, Jumping on a Box, or Carrying your bodyweight, provide robust and important aspects of fitness and general health that are beneficial to all sports and aspects of life. We’ve taken this idea of having a well rounded base of fitness and stacked on a bunch of specific movements, themes, and ideas that are biased to the athlete that rides a mountain bike.
Ultimately the goal of this program is first and foremost to help guide and give athletes who mountain bike and are interested in training in the gym an education of how and what to train. By following the MTBTC program you’ll find an increase in performance both on the bike, and in everyday life activities, you’ll find increased injury prevention, and in many cases you may find that working through a training program like this shores up many imbalances and deficiencies from issues like past falls/injuries as well as from time just spent sitting on a bike.

The below are some key points regarding the MTBTC training program…

-
Easy to access and use APP where you’ll find all of the training housed. No having to deal with a computer, no printing off spreadsheets, everything is in one place on your phone.
-
Robust training tracking that allows you to easily search and reference any given movement to see when it was performed last, what you lifted, how fast you went, etc.
-
An interactive training program where you can see all other athletes weights, times, etc. when they submit their results for the day’s programming.
-
Our initial program we are launching with will be an Off-Season program designed for the Northern Hemisphere running from December through April at which point the structure will change to an In-Season training program.
